'Sargassum macrocarpum'

Sargassum serratifolium is a perennial brown alga habituated in the sublittoral zone along the coasts of Korea and Japan.

S. serratifolium is a food-grade alga and contains high concentration of plastoquinones which have similar structures of retinol and gamma-tocotrienol.

The extracted plastoquinones are prepared with O/W emulsion to extent storage stability and the emulsion sizes are around 20 nm which is an adequate size to penetrate skin.

This powerful marine algae-derived nanoemulsion (SargaX) is ideal for retinol alternative. It has strong skin-brightening, anti-wrinkle, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial activities.
